The Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival is looking forward to Oct. 23-24, when it returns to Premiere Theaters Oaks Stadium 10 in Melbourne, Florida, with a slate of great independent films and the theme of “Dynamic Duos.”Proposed by Joyce Wilden, the theme centers on a new project at the MIFF: pairing filmmakers with composers. As part of the festival’s community outreach, the MIFF is asking filmmakers to produce and submit silent films with a running time below 5 minutes. Six of these entries will be selected to be paired with local composers to be scored. These films and their scores will be shown and performed by the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Aaron Collins at this year’s festival.
Of course, MIFF will also welcome the usual complement of films from a variety of genres, and the July deadline is getting closer. Click for our new guidelines for 2015.
